Admiral Markets Now Supports the MT4 and MT5 Forex Platforms for Mac

Jul 01 2013

It seems that Estonian forex and CFD broker Admiral Markets has really decided to step it up and attract as many customers as possible by offering a large set of well-regulated services – a while ago the broker rolled out its customized, deluxe MT4 package, and in the middle of June it added an additional layer of investor protection by getting a FCA license.

Now the broker moves on with its technological advancements by offering a designated MT4 and MT5 desktop downloads for Mac users – something quite rare in the forex world. In fact, the only other broker that supports such a perk is the Cypriot XEMarkets, which launched its MT4 for Mac in April this year.
Up until now Admiral Markets' trading platform was available to Mac traders through third-party software apps – emulators that mimicked the operation of a PC thus letting users install and access programs that were designed for Windows alone. This, however, was far from perfect – as Admiral Markets points out, these emulators are known for crashing on a regular basis (I myself use a PC so  I don't have any first-hand experience and I would have to trust the broker on that). What's more, with such apps traders couldn't use viable trading tools such as one-click trading and Expert Advisors (EAs).
To solve this, the brokerage used a simple, yet effective approach: it reversed the process. Now, instead of mirroring a PC, there is a Mac downloadable platform, which integrates all the necessary emulators to enable the proper functioning of the program, and allowing Mac users to benefit from all the platform's features.
“Admiral Markets’ new solution now gives Apple users the same high-quality trading experience investors have on Windows,” explains Dmitri Laush, VP of Admiral Markets. “It gives the many apple users the opportunity to use all the established MetaTrader platform features for their trading and to enjoy the authentic Admiral Markets trading experience on the latest version of Mac OS – without expensive emulating software”, he adds.
Currently most brokers opt in for an alternative to a desktop when it comes to their clients using Mac – web traders that are accessible through any internet browser, however there are a few more that advertise virtual PCs and other emulators – take Vantage FX or Alpari for example. Now that Admiral Markets has paved the way for them, they may follow by developing their own Metatrader platforms for Apple OS – we'll see.
