Lowest spread forex broker

Although it may seem obvious to some, trading with lower spreads is beneficial for the trader. Spreads are basically your costs of trading in the forex market, although there are a few specifics.

When looking at an ECN broker, which provides low spreads, one must know they usually add a commission to top. This is done to provide greater transparence – the spread from the liquidity pool is external, while the commission is the broker’s profit. There is an easy way to calculate the size of effective spread, when commissions are involved:

Every $1 in commissions, per lot is equal to 0.1 pips in spread, in the pairs where USD is the quote (second) currency. This is true provided the commission are “round turn” i.e. for both sides of the trade.

STP brokers usually do not have a commission and some of them offer fairly low spreads, while fixed spread brokers usually offer wider spreads.

Do keep in mind, a broker s regulatory status is more important than the spreads they provide. If you are looking at an FCA-regulated broker and an off-shore company, which provides slightly lower spreads, we would advise you to go for the first one. The security of your funds is much more important than saving a few dollars per trade.

With all that in mind, here is a list of some of the lowest spread brokers:
