Gain Capital's August trading volumes pick up

 Gain Capital, owner of the leading US forex broker Forex.com, reported that its August trading volumes, both in the retail and institutional segments, were substantially higher than those in July.


 

The retail segment that includes the forex brokerages Forex.com and CityIndex, has posted a 16.2% increase on a monthly basis and 23.9% rise year-on-year, to $237.7 billion. The average daily volume in August stood at $10.3 billion, up 6.2% and 24.1% over the month and the year, respectively. The number of active client accounts also rose – by 1.2% over both the month and the year and was 133 965.


 

The institutional brokerage GTX also performed quite well in August. The ECN volume was $279.8 billion, rising 32.4% from July and the impressive 86.4% from last August. The average daily volume was $12.2 billion – 20.8% higher than July and 87.7% more than August 2016.


 

The August swap dealership volume rose 35% from July and 6.7% from last August, to $77.5 billion.

OANDA bought out by CVC Capital Partners
