The Company

ATC Brokers was founded in 2005 in the US as a brokerage company providing online trading solutions within the forex and futures markets to customers worldwide. The company focuses on providing traders with the best technology available.

In 2014 ATC launched its UK branch by registering with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and therefore is under the umbrella of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), which protects consumers up to £50,000 per person per company.

Regulation and safety of funds

The broker is a member of the National Futures Association (NFA) and is a registered introducing broker with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

NFA-regulated forex brokers are obliged to meet a set of strict requirements, such as to maintain a net capital of at least $20 million and to provide leverage no higher than 1:50.

Although ATC Brokers have an auto-liquidation system to help prevent a negative balance on traders’ accounts, in the event of extreme market volatility, it is possible that a trader loses more money than the initial deposit.

Trading conditions

The broker supports STP order execution and provides No Dealing desk environment. This means that broker passes on client orders directly to the liquidity provider, while Dealing Desk brokers, also called Market makers, essentially bet against traders. Consequently, ATC brokers offer variable spreads, the average starting from 0.3 pip.

The minimum account size to open an account with this broker is $5,000 or the amount equivalent in GBP or EUR. This amount may prevent some traders from opening an ATC account, as many other brokers require smaller initial deposits (Forex. com - $500, FXCM - $2,000, OANDA - $1).

As for the commission fees charged by ATC brokers $ 0.80 round turn for a mini contract (10,000 lot size) and $ 8.00 round turn for a standard contract (100,000 lot size).

On the other hand, the starting commission charged by ATC UK is set to $3 per standard lot per side ($6 roundtirn).

The maximum leverage offered by ATC brokers is 50:1 for US clients (the aforementioned NFA requirement) and 200:1 for those outside the US. As regards ATC Brokers UK, they provide maximum leverage level of 100:1. If you are not an US resident and you need more buing power, check check out these brokers.

Account Types include individual, joint, partnership, corporation, LLC and IRA. Additionally, there are swap-free accounts offered, however these are not meant to hold open positions for long periods of time. Also, there is an option to hold more than one ATC account and each trader is allowed to maintain up to 5 accounts.

Trading platforms

ATC Brokers offer a variety of free-of-charge trading platforms in order to meet all traders’ needs:

- The popular MT4 (also available on iPhone, iPad and Android), integrated within an institutional price model with STP one-click order execution, fractional pricing, as well as an option to trade inside the spread;

- MT4 Plus, which is a proprietary plug-in that provides high end options, such as Advanced Brackets (with which you can create up to three separate order strategies) and Close All (an option to close all open positions in a selected currency pair).
- Trade Copier is a software allowing money managers and signal providers the ability to distribute trade signals for execution on the MetaTrader 4 platform;

- ATC Trader provides a connection to multiple futures exchanges worldwide; it utilizes the latest technology in order execution and also provides in-chart trading;

- Algo Trader (available in the US only), which allows traders to connect directly to APC’s aggregation engine in order to access the pool of liquidity.

Payment methods

ATC Brokers allows payments and fund withdrawals by check or wire ($25 fee for domestic wires and a $30 fee for international ones). Cashier checks and ACH transfer are not accepted.

ATC brokers UK offers a richer variety of payment methods, including credit/debit card (Visa and MasterCard with 2.9% transaction fee), bank wire, Skrill and UnionPay.

Conclusion

ATC Brokers is a reliable well-regulated ECN broker, offering high-end trading tools. It also provides everything that serious traders desire, such as the popular MetaTrader platform, flat-fee commissions and low spreads.

ATC Brokers use STP to process the order via ECN to the market

ATC Brokers offer instant execution. You can control slippage and place market orders along with stop and target levels. But ATC doesn't quote the prices as market makers do, they use STP to process the order via ECN to the market. Their LP is FXCM so I guess your orders get matched with 1) banks connected to FXCM liquidity pool and 2) clients of ATC, FXCM and maybe even Deutsche Bank retail (dbfx.com). But the last is my speculation only.

I'm trading live with them for a short period of time to make ultimate judgements but I have made almost 200 trades with market orders already and the execution is really awesome; I have slippage set to 1 pip (yes, one pip) and I was filled on ALL the orders almost immediately (within a second); no "requotes" - I think they don't have requotes implemented at all. Everything ATC does seems to be focused on speed. You have to qualify before getting your real account allowed to trade; the qualification procedure includes setting the MT4 bar count (chart/history) to lower than default figures, turning of the feed for unused currency pairs, MQL compliance requirements for EAs (they don't allow for more than 1 request per second) and a speed test of your internet connection.

Have to make a correction to my former post here; the commission is ALWAYS $8 standard lot RT, regardless of currency pair.

ATC Brokers invited us to try out their ECN/STP MetaTrader 4

We were recently approached by the owner of ATC Brokers, who invited us to try out their ECN/STP MetaTrader 4 platform.

As with other ECN/STP brokers, it was necessary to rip out the dealing desk applications in MetaTrader to allow direct market access from third-party liquidity providers. The result is a trading platform that is stable, with extremely small spreads and a commission of $8 per trade when trading one standard lot.

The minimum account size is $5,000. Mini contracts are supported and you have the ability to trade micro lots beyond the mini lot size 0.10 (10,000) - for example, you can trade 0.12 or 1.89. Leverage is fixed at the most I would personally go for - 100:1.

Execution is fast and we like the fact that you can partially close orders when in profit (not all MT4 brokers allow this). In addition, the customer service is top notch and account opening quick and straight forward.

Client funds are segregated and trades are not bound by the new NFA FIFO rules, meaning scalping, hedging and all other trading activities are permitted.

One of the most important things I look for in a broker is a telephone number and someone picking up the phone quickly. The last thing I want is an emergency (e.g. Internet goes down) and not being able to speak to someone. ACT passed this test with flying colours.

The only thing I do not like about this broker is the five digit pricing – I find this very difficult to use when designing trading systems (which I spend a lot of time doing).

However, for trading, this is a great platform and one we can strongly recommend.

ATC Brokers are ECN and offer some of the best spreads

ATC Brokers are ECN and offer some of the best spreads of ANYBODY!!!

The customer service is over the top good.

Their is NO markup on the spread (thats why the spreads are so low) and only $8 per 100K commission no matter the pair traded (other ECN's factor in the Currency price which can make the commission increase/decrease).

Minimum lotsize is 0.10 and micro increments are allowed (0.10, 0.11, 0.12, etc..) - If you want to stop playing market maker games and trade with a ECN that processes orders without delay, requotes or platform freezes ATC is the only game in town.

Another bonus - The price feed is from FXCM-UK so you have Hedge and LIFO with a USA NFA licensed Broker - Who's better than that!?
