LSE Champions Share £8,500 in XEMarket's Forex Demo Competition

About a month ago we told you about XEMarkets' LSE Forex Demo Contest, where the students from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) competed for a prize pool of £8,500. The competition was the first such collaboration between the broker and the LSE but it probably won't be the last one – XEMarkets has made it clear that it would like to become a patron of the school.

On February 8 this year the LSE Demo Competition oficially kicked in. Each contestant was given a special demo account with $100,000 (virtual money). The final goal? To win as much money as possible trading on XEMarkets' platform by the time the contest closed on February 21, 2013.

Last Thursday, February 28, all the competing students got together for the contest's official award ceremony at the LSE, and met with the XEMarket's CEO Constantinos Cleanthous, Ilias Mavrommatis and Pambos Panayiotou (Directors at the broker), and Tasos Anastasiou (Member of the Board and Non Executive Director at XEMarkets) – all LSE alumni – together with representatives of the school's Careers Department.

Three skilled and lucky students got to share the prizes: Guido Long was crowned champion, taking home the whopping £7,000; his runner-ups were Rhys Morgan with a prize of £1,000, and Lewis Bowker who won £500.

After the ceremony, the students had the chance to participate in a comprehensive discussion with the broker's representatives attending, thus starting an open dialogue between the business and the educational system. In the long run, such communication and cooperation can be quite beneficial both for students and for brokers looking to hire talented young professionals.

Constantinos Cleanthous, CEO and LSE graduate himself, shared the following: “It is an honor for us to collaborate with the London School of Economics and Political Science, as a financial institution, we consider it imperative to offer the best of what we have to investors who lay their trust in our services. Moreover, as an official career patron of LSE, we intent on helping young professionals acquire well-founded knowledge for the financial industry and even creating employment opportunities for their university graduates. On behalf of XEMarkets I would like to thank the London School of Economics and Political Science Management and to the university Careers Department in particular for their commitment to making our collaboration successful.”

The £8,500 LSE Forex Demo Competition was the first but definitely not the last mutual initiative between XEMarkets and LSE. In fact, the next project that the two institutions will develop together has already been agreed on, and will be announced shortly.
