Saxo Bank Announces the All New SaxoTrader and Saxo WebTrader

Saxo Bank is pleased to announce a number of major improvements to the SaxoTrader and Saxo WebTrader platforms. The features were made available in SaxoWebTrader 2.5 in May and in SaxoTrader 2.5 in mid June.

These improvements are the outcome of the continuous dialogue we have with our valued clients and are the first in a series of updates aimed at greatly enhancing the trading experience and the usability of our trading platforms. We would like to stress that Saxo Bank remains committed to providing you with the best platform the market has to offer.

If you no longer have access to your trial account, you can still try out the new platforms. Simply reset your password using the below link and your trial account will be re-activated for a further 20 day no-obligation period.

You can also visit our website SaxoTrader 2.5 where more details, including video walk-throughs, are available.

Improvements featured in this update include:

  • Ribbon menu
  • Open Positions Module
  • Account Toolbar
  • Sound Alerts
  • New product icon set

Better overview of platform features and easier navigation

The new ribbon toolbar replaces the conventional drop-down menu and offers a better overview and easy access to the trade modules available in SaxoTrader.

View and manage positions and related orders in one integrated workflow

The new Open Positions Module offers greatly improved management and control of your open positions.

Open Positions can be closed directly by clicking on the Button in the Close column for the position. This launches a Close Dialog for the position for you to confirm the closure at the current market price.

The Close button indicates the current market price for the position:

  • The mid-market price for FX Spot positions
  • The Last-traded price for CFDs, Stocks and Futures (data is default delayed - real time data is available with a subscription)

Stop and Limit orders can be added directly from the Stop and Limit columns of the Open Positions Module.

To add a new Stop/Limit order, click on the Stop or Limit button for the position.

If the position has an existing Stop or Limit order, the price of that particular order will be shown on the button:

Click on the Stop or Limit price to change the orders.

Offering an innovative view of the performance of your positions, progress bars on Stop and Limit orders allow you to see the progress of your position towards the Stop or Limit.

See at a glance how your positions are performing and if you need to adjust any Stop or Limit orders.

Progress bars are shown for positions with related orders where you have a real-time price on the instrument.

Account information is now always visible in a screen efficient layout

The Account and Margin toolbar is added from the ribbon menu and is always docked to the bottom of your workspace. If you have multiple sub accounts, multiple toolbars can be added to allow you to see the sub account balances separately.

The Account and Margin toolbar features an account selector, your cash balance, the account value, margin available and the margin utilisation.

The details of your Account value and Margin available are available in the pop-up invoked on the Information icon.

Customise sounds for specific events to create a personalized trading experience

By selecting 'Options' from the menu system, you can configure sound alerts for specific actions on the platform:

  • Margin Call
  • Trade Confirmation
  • Chat Received
  • Broadcast Message
  • Price Alert

Clearer product differentiation and updated look and feel

In order to more clearly separate the products we offer on the platforms all product icons have been updated. There is now a clear link between the type of product and the icons:

Forex Options
Metal Options
CFDs on stocks
Index tracking CFDs
CFDs on Commodities
CFDs on ETFs
Stock Indices (non tradeable)

We hope that you will find these updates valuable and contributing to the future success of your trading activity with Saxo Bank.
