Latest Build of Metatrader 4 Comes Along with Important Changes

Metatrader 4, the most popular Forex trading platform, is about to undergo a very important upgrade, with the latest build – number 574, presenting many changes to the terminal, the programming language and the way software products are sold and stored on the platform.

We start by stressing that the 574 build is still in its beta version and it appears that no broker has yet forced its clients to make use of it. For the time being, build 509 is in use. However, you're all invited to test the new build and voice your opinion: to do that, you should connect to connect to demo.metaquotes.net:443 server.

The EAs, indicators, scripts, etc.

The most crucial change, in our humble opinion, comes for fans of automated trading who tend to add different expert advisors or use related trading software on MT4. These pieces of software will now be saved in different locations.

All of these programs will now be in separate folders in the Data Folder, which you'll be able to access from the File menu. There will be a separate folder for EAs, a separate one for indicators, and so on. You don't have to move any of your robots, scripts, etc. from existing locations to the new ones – the change will be automatic. However, in case you insert an EA after the upgrade to the old location (the previous folder), the terminal will not be able to recognize it and it will not run on the platform.

The Metatrader 4 Market

A piece of convenience comes for all MT4 fans on February 3, 2014, with the Metatrader 4 Market – the place where you can shop around for signals, robots and various trading stuff, to be embedded in the platform. That's right – you can access the store by simply clicking on the designated tab next to the Signals tab.

The Signals Service

Users of the MT4 Signals service will be able to enjoy more detailed information about a trading signal, such as the date of the most recent trade and the number of trades from the past week, an equity chart, as well as a distribution diagram showing activity by symbols.

More Precision of Orders Reporting

The platform now shows opening and closing time of trade orders and positions with accuracy of seconds. This also applies to trading history and trade reports. The data in Market Watch and Pop-up Prices windows is also displayed with accuracy of seconds. This change comes after an analogical improvement on the Metatrader 5 platform – but the accuracy on the successor of MT4 is up to milliseconds.

Amid the important changes in the latest build are ones concerning the MQL4 programming language. They would be of utmost interest to programmers – we are talking about new data types, presentation of strings of data in unicode instead of ANSI format, etc.
