GAIN Capital Announces 9% Increase in Retail Trading Volumes YoY

GAIN Capital Holdings Inc., a US forex broker, doing business as Forex.com and GTX (NYSE: GCAP), today reported certain operating metrics for the month of May 2014. Both retail and institutional trading volumes are growing on monthly and annual basis - an impressive result, especially given the 31% annual decrease in retail trading volumes, reported by FXCM.

 

GAIN Capital Retail metrics
 
 - Retail OTC trading volume[1] of $175.9 billion, an increase of 0.9% from April 2014 and an increase of 9.0% from May 2013.
 
 - Average daily retail OTC trading volume of $8.0 billion, an increase of 0.9% from April 2014 and an increase of 13.9% from May 2013. 
 
 - Active retail OTC accounts[2] of 95,205, a decrease of 0.9% from April 2014 and an increase of 48.7% from May 2013.
 
 - Futures contracts of 550,666, a decrease of 14.2% from April 2014 and an increase of 16.8% from May 2013.
 
 - Average daily futures contracts of 25,030, a decrease of 14.2% from April 2014 and an increase of 22.1% from May 2013.
 
Total funded accounts[3] of 135,717, an increase of 0.6% from April 2014 and an increase of 34.8% from May 2013.
 
 
 
GAIN Capital Institutional metrics
 
 - Total institutional trading volume[4] of $456.9 billion, an increase of 11.7% from April 2014 and an increase of 19.4% from May 2013.
 
 - Average daily institutional volume of $20.8 billion, an increase of 11.7% from April 2014 and an increase of 24.8% from May 2013.
 
 - GTX trading volume[5] of $420.7 billion, an increase of 13.8% from April 2014 and an increase of 9.9% from May 2013.
 
 - Average daily GTX volume of $19.1 billion, an increase of 13.8% from April 2014 and an increase of 14.9% from May 2013.
