FXCM Q3 Results: Tradable Accounts Increase to 203,714, Revenue Up 5%

FXCM, one of the world’s largest forex brokers, has just announced its Q3 results. The highlights of the report are revenues of $115.0 million (up 5% versus the same period in 2011), record customer equity of $1,278 million - up 54% from Q3 of 2011 and up 22% from December 2011, and retail revenue per million of $99/million.

A 5% revenue increase is not a lot, yet is more than most of the other players on the market can brag about – revenues and trading volumes have decreased significantly in comparison with last year, and this has affected brokers worldwide.

Frankly, FXCM’s positive results are not surprising – in August this year the broker hit a record number in client assets, and in Q3 the U.S. division of the company registered more than 20,000 active accounts, which ranked it 2nd biggest amongst all the brokers operating in the USA.

For comparison, Gain Capital’s Forex.com – one of the main competitors of FXCM – reported excellent results in their institutional business but retail is not doing too good. The broker’s net in Q3 hit $40 million only.
