DeltaStock Releases a Google Chrome Extension

Apr 19 2013

Only a few weeks after they released a new mobile trading platform that we really liked, Deltastock is coming up with another update for the geeks and passionate traders: a Google Chrome extension.

Extensions are not new – we already saw Oanda, Trading 212 and IG Markets come up with these handy browser add-ons – so when I heard the news about Deltastock's extension, I already knew what to expect: trading straight from any webpage without leaving it. The best quality of these add-ons is that they're really quick – let's say you see a news alert about the Gold price going down; click-click-click, and you've already opened a short Gold position, without leaving the news page and without losing any valuable time. As simple as that.

While Deltastock's extension works in a similar way, it is slightly different though: when you install the extension and log in, it pops up in a separate window. I played with it for a while only to find out that it practically copies the mobile web platform in look, feel and functionality.

Here, again, there are five screens: Quotes, Positions, Orders, News and My Account.

The “Quotes” screen displays a list of the trading instruments. You can easily customize the list depending on what you trade: to add a new instrument, simply click on the “+” button in the upper right part of the window, check the box next to the instrument you want to add or remove the check mark if you want to remove it, then click on “Done”. Another way to remove an instrument is to click on the bid or ask price, then click on “Remove”.

Placing an order happens by clicking on the price (bid or ask), then clicking on “New Order”. Your choice here is between market, limit, stop or OCO order types. The orders that you place then appear on the “Orders” screen, which is pretty much your order history tab.

To see your open orders, just go to the “Positions” screen and you're good to go.  “My Account” displays your account history – deposits and withdrawals, profit and loss, free margin, etc.

In order to open a chart, you need to click on a trading instrument, then select “Chart” from the new pop-up that appears. The one thing I like about the extension is that being a separate window, it can be resized, which is pretty useful if you want to examine what's going on with the instrument. You can see your position displayed on the chart, and you can set a stop loss or take profit straight from there:

As I said, we liked Deltastock's mobile trading platform - so there is no reason not to like the fact that they've decided to introduce it as a browser extension as well.
