City Index's Learn to Trade Program: Between Demo and Live

City Index, the leading UK provider of online trading services, is offering its clients an opportunity to enter the world of spread betting and CFD trading at their own pace. This happens thanks to a program called Learn to Trade, an interesting combination of training, demo and live trading features.

For a period of four weeks, each owner of a live account with City Index enjoys a special set of privileges when it comes to trading. So, yes, indeed you have to put some real cash into your account – the minimum deposit is GBP 100, but on the other hand the team of the broker has thought of those who make their first steps into live trading and offers some risk-minimization mechanisms.

One of these mechanisms is the smaller bet stake size for spread betting – usually it starts at GBP 0.50, with many traders even opting for bet stakes of GBP 10. With the Learn to Trade program, you can spread bet with as little as GBP 0.25 per pip. This means that the threat to your account balance is two times smaller.

In addition, during the four-week period, you can benefit from lower commission rates on CFDs – they will be at GBP 5, which is three times lower than the usual fee for CFDs on UK shares – they are at GBP 15 per trade.

Of course, when it comes to training in trading, the broker has thought of providing its clients with certain resources. For lovers of traditional educational materials, City Index has composed a ‘How to Trade the Financial Markets eBook’, which features basic information about financial markets, tech analysis and trading methods. The authors  of the book include renowned names like Trading Academy mentors James Chen and Ashraf Laidi – and you must have heard of this reality show where traders compete to get a GBP 100,000 cash prize.

The office of City Index hosts regular seminars on online trading and they are free for all holders of real accounts with the broker, including those enrolled in the Learn to Trade program. And there are of course, the webinars – on spread betting, FX and CFDs. And there is the free daily market commentary newsletter.

We've already mentioned risk control – let's note that participants in the program can make use of special options to control risks, including stop loss orders and guaranteed stop loss orders.

You can always open a demo account with City Index and enjoy a totally free and riskless ride, but with Learn to Trade you have four weeks during which you stand to grow from a demo newbie into an actual live trader, while learning to control risks and deal with minimal profits/losses. The fact that you get training into a variety of trading areas (we are not talking about the usual Forex offering) and that you get access to the full capabilities of City Index's platforms makes the proposal indeed unique and lucrative.
