Canadian watchdog OSC issues a warning against Meta Investing

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) warned the public against another company – MetaInvesting. Canada’s multiple regional regulators are actively informing residents of the risks involved with unregulated entities. The official OSC statement reads:

“Metainvesting, also operating as Meta Investing, and doing business as www.metainvesting.com is not registered in Ontario to engage in the business of trading in securities.”

We have a bit of experience with this company, as we have reviewed them. Needless to say, we weren’t impressed. The trading conditions aren’t attractive, they are based offshore and have even misspelled their country of operation (the final “s” in “Marshal Islands” isn’t there). Moreover they also offer binary options, which are exclusively banned in Canada (and soon to be so in the EU). Still, the biggest issue with Meta Investing is their lack of regulatory oversight not only in Ontario, but altogether.

Furthermore, the user reviews on our website, suggest this company may not be allowing traders to withdraw funds at all. This leads us to believe they operate a call centre (or use similar push tactics) to directly approach people, who may not be that sophisticated in financial markets. Such schemes often feature false promises of high returns, with the end goal of simply making a client deposit funds.

The Ontario regulator calls for caution with all entities which aren’t registered to trade or advise in Canada. With that in mind, some of the top-tier, globally renowned brokers are based in the UK and are overseen by the Financial Conduct Authority. You can check our list of FCA brokers to find a trustworthy trading partner.
