Alpari Joins Ranks of International Swaps and Derivatives Association

Alpari Limited, the major Forex broker, announced today that it had entered the ranks of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), a body which works closely with policymakers and legislators in the field of derivatives.

Alpari joins ISDA as an associate member, and is now among the 600 participants of ISDA, which vary from major banks, rating agencies, clearinghouses, law firms to Forex brokers (of course). Let's mention at least several companies that also have the status of associate members: FXDD,  LCH.Clearnet Limited, and Standard & Poor's.

By participating in the organization, its members can actively influence decisions and policies in the area of derivatives market regulation. There are regular meetings of ISDA members and board of directors, with the group pretty active if we consider the amount of materials published on its website

ISDA, actually, is a long-lived and well reputed association, as it has been running since 1985. The association has numerous offices across the globe – in New York, Washington, London, Brussels, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo.

Alpari gains numerous advantages from participating in ISDA. For openers, it will be able to play a role in important decisions in the area in which it is engaged. Actually, as there is no Forex regulation in Russia, many brokers in the country have been missing the opportunity of having their say in this respect. In addition, the broker left the oldest Russian Forex self-regulated organization KROUFR in the end of April, and, hence, could enjoy a boost for its reputation.

Alpari has been rather conscious about the improvement of its public image lately. Let's recall that early in September, the broker became one of the first members of the Financial Commission, a new watchdog based in Hong Kong. This move was mainly due to the desire of the broker to ensure its clients that in case of conflict, there would be an impartial body to tackle the dispute.
