Oanda lowers spreads on major indices

Major global multi-asset brokerage Oanda announced it is lowering the spreads on some of the major indices in its portfolio in order to reduce the price for trading in indices for its clients. The spreads on Australia 200, UK 100, Germany 30, US NAS 100 and the US Wall St 30 are now as low as 0.5 pips.

The new, tighter spreads are available for the Oanda clients currently trading on the broker’s proprietary trading platform V20. Those who are trading on the legacy platform, should open a V20 sub account in order to access the tighter spreads.

"At OANDA, we take pride in helping our clients become successful self-directed traders, whether through enhancements to our institutional-grade trading platform, cutting-edge trading tools, advanced charting solutions or award-winning educational material. Over the course of our 23-year history, we've worked hard to meet the needs of our clients, who have increasingly expressed an interest in tighter spreads on indices. As a result, we've moved to offer tighter spreads during cash hours, which will enable clients to reduce the cost of trading on our V20 platform while continuing to benefit from our fully-automated execution and transparent pricing," said Vatsa Narasimha, President and Chief Executive Officer, Oanda Global Corporation.

The CFD trading hours depend on the opening hours of the underlying futures markets are open. The instruments are not available for trading on holidays for the respective markets. Indices and CFD products are not available to residents of Japan and the United States of America or its territories.

In a separate announcement on its Facebook page, Oanda said it has launched a new Trading Performance portal for the V20 live accounts. The new tool utilizes the client’s trading data and helps him fine tune their trading skills.

A pioneer FX brokerage headquartered in Canada, Oanda offers trading in currency pairs, contracts for difference (CFDs), and precious metals. It operates through its offices in San Francisco, Toronto, New York, London, Singapore, Tokyo, and Sydney. The group is regulated by the relevant authorities in the US, Singapore, Canada, the UK, Japan, and Australia.
