Gain Capital launches Bitcoin CFDs, spread betting on City Index

Gain Capital, owner of major global forex brokerages, announced it is launching CFDs and spread betting on bitcoin at its UK-regulated forex brokerage brand City Index.

The UK clients of City Index can either spread bet or trade in Bitcoin CFDs with the respective accounts, with competitive spreads starting from $50, on margin of 25% (leverage 1:4), from 22:00 GMT Sunday till 22:00 GMT Friday. Trading is done on City Index’s platforms, with all the tools and options available for other instruments, such as 16 chart types with 80+ indicators for technical analysis and mobile apps.

"Cryptocurrencies are one of the most exciting trends shaping today's markets. We are pleased to provide our clients with the ability to trade Bitcoin through an established, regulated firm, without the need to set up a digital wallet or execute through a Bitcoin exchange," said Glenn Stevens, Chief Executive Officer of GAIN Capital. "We are excited to expand our offering for City Index customers, who can now trade cryptocurrencies along with more than 12,000 other markets, including FX, indices, commodities, equities and rates."

City Index is one of the brands of Gain Capital. It is regulated by UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and offers trading in over 12 000 instruments: forex pairs, CFDs on indices, commodity, equity markets and now Bitcoin, and spread betting in the UK. City Index was established in the UK in 1983. It operates the brands City Index, Finspreads, FX Solutions and IFX Markets brands with core markets in the UK, Middle East and the Asia Pacific.

The addition of the Bitcoin CFDs puts Gain Capital in the expanding list of forex brands offering such instruments on some of the most popular cryptocurrencies. Usually they offer leveraged trading in CFDs on their standard platforms, unlike the majority of dedicated cryptocurrency exchanges who offer spot trading, or simple exchange services.
