HV Markets offers its clients two account types – Standard & Pro. As there is no information on the broker’s website about the Pro account, we’ll focus on the Standard one. In addition, the brokerage also provides account management services.

ASIC (Authorised Representative of Synergy FX)

HV Markets is a newly launched forex broker, offering trading in more than 50 currency pairs, indices and commodities CFDs. The company behind the brand, HV Markets Pty Ltd., is headquartered in Sydney, but is not regulated by any financial authority. Instead, HV Markets acts as an Authorised Representative of Australian brokerage Synergy FX, which holds a license from the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC).

ASIC requires licensed financial services providers to meet certain capital requirements (at least $ 1 million) and to comply with various internal procedures for risk management, accounting and audits. Besides, forex brokers regulated in Australia are required to report regularly to ASIC and to keep clients’ money in segregated accounts.

Australian FX broker regulation, however, does not include any compensation scheme in case a licensed company becomes insolvent.

One more thing – we suppose that HV Markets Pty Ltd. is a sister company of HVTrader Ltd. – an offshore firm that operates the HVTrader brokerage brand. Their names, logos and trading conditions look similar.

Trading Conditions

Minimum Initial Deposit

HV Markets is one of those brokers who, in order to attract clients, have set no minimum initial deposit requirement. So, you can start with an investment of just $1, but any savvy trader knows that this will hardly produce any satisfactory results.

Average Spreads & Commissions

HV Markets offers variable spreads, and charges no commission fees. However, when we tried out its MT4 in domo mode, the spreads were around 2.2 pips on EUR/USD, which is above the average range of 1.0 – 1.5 pips for this pair.

By comparison, SynergyFX offers spreads starting from 0.5 pips on EUR/USD on its commission-free accounts.

Maximum Leverage

Clients of HV Markets may use high leverage ratios up to 1:400, which is a high ratio, yet we have drafted a list of brokers that offer leverage levels of at least 1:500. Some jurisdictions cap leverage to significantly lower ratios, because higher leverage involves greater risk of losses in excess of initial investments.

Trading Platform

HV Markets supports the most popular forex platform MetaTrader 4 (MT4). It is available as desktop, and mobile versions. The broker plans to launched a web-based version of MT4 in the near future.

The platform is easy to use and offers advanced technical analysis, flexible trading system, algorithmic trading and Expert Advisors (EAs), as well as back-testing capabilities.

Methods of Payment

HV Markets offers its clients the following methods: Credit/debit cards, bank transfer and e-wallets Neteller, Skrill, and China UnionPay.

HV Markets enables clients to open accounts in AUD and USD.

Conclusion

HV Markets is a forex and CFD broker, which acts as an authorized representative of Synergy FX which is licensed by ASIC. Apart from the fact that HV Markets doesn’t have a license of its own, we’ve spotted another problem with this broker – high spreads. To sum up the above:

Pros  Cons
ASIC regulation  Doesn’t have a license of its own (Authorized rep.)
MT4 available     High spreads
No min. deposit required
