Indonesian broker GKInvest offers as many as 5 account types, as well as access to the MetaTrader5 platform. Here are our impressions of this broker, after we made a thorough research on the company and tested its platform.

GKInvest Advantages

Regulated in Indonesia, part of an international group

GKInvest is a brand associated with Global Kapital Investama Berjangka – a company overseen by the Indonesian authorities. The full list of institutions associated with this broker includes: The Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (BAPPEBTI), the Indonesian Derivatives Clearing House (ICDX) and the Jakarta Futures Exchange (BBJ).  This may sound like a lot, but it’s basically the standard regulation for Indonesian brokerages which deal in forex and the local futures exchange.

The broker is also a part of the Global Capital Group (GCG), among whose members is UK brokerage GKFX.

Trading on the MT5, various assets

Another positive aspect of this broker is the fact it supports the MetaTrader5 platform, one of the finest trading solutions on the market. The platform is highly praised for its Intuitive trading interface, top-notch charting, supports automated trading via Expert Advisors, and on top of that allows trading in exchange-traded stocks. That being said, GKInvest offers trading in wide range of financial products, including many stocks.

Spreads not bad, solid leverage

The broker’s spread on EUR/USD is fixed at 1.6 pips, as tested on its demo web MT5, and this is another advantage. By comparison, most fixed-spread brokers offer a spread of 2 pips for this pair.

Also, it becomes clear that GKInvest offers a leverage of 1:100, which is a solid ratio. Many jurisdictions cap leverage at significantly lower levels due to investor protections concerns. As most of you probably know, higher leverage involves greater risk of losses.

GKInvest Disadvantages

Bank transfers only
Banking seems to be the only way to deposit and withdraw funds to and from FOREXimf. This is not a significant flaw, but still may be inconvenient for those who are used to the modern instant payment methods, like credit cards and e-wallets such as Skrill, Neteller and others.

Conclusion

GKInvest is a licensed Indonesian brokerage, which is a part of a global group. This means that he broker is quite reliable, and besides, its trading conditions seem attractive too.

While Indonesian regulators are much more respectable than those in a lot of other places, there are far better options. For example, forex brokers regulated in a EU Member state. Most of them have to meet certain capital adequacy requirements, to keep client funds in segregated accounts, to report transactions, and more. Besides, most European countries have established compensation funds for regulated brokerages, so even in case they go bankrupt, their clients will be compensated. That being said, one of the most popular jurisdictions for forex brokers in Europe is Cyprus.

Holding a CySEC license requires compliance with many requirements, such as: segregation of client accounts, reporting clients’ transaction on a regular basis, maintaining a minimum capital of EUR 730 000, providing negative balance protection, participation in the Investor Compensation Fund (ICF), and more. It also means that the brokerage adheres to all rules introduced on a EU level, including provision of negative balance protection, leverage cap of 1:30, disclosing the percentage of clients who suffer losses, etc.

To sum up the weak and strong sides of GKInvest:

Pros Cons
BAPPEBTI license Limited payment methods

MT5 supported, wide range of assets

Regulation not that strict
Spreads not bad, solid leverage
