Cypriot brokerage EXT doesn’t seem to offer different account types. It uses an in-house trading platform, industry standard MetaTrader 4. The broker launched in 2019 and holds a license with CySEC, which brings along significant advantages for its clients. The broker holds a license with CySEC, which brings along significant advantages for its clients. For more details, read our thorough and unbiased review on EXT.

EXT Advantages

Licensed in Cyprus, part of an international group

The most obvious strong side of EXT is that it holds a license from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

CySEC-regulated brokers should meet a number of requirements, such as the mandatory segregation of client accounts, reporting clients’ transaction on a regular basis, maintaining a minimum capital of EUR 730 000, participation in the Investor Compensation Fund (ICF), and all rules introduced on a EU level. The latter include provision of negative balance protection, leverage cap of 1:30, disclosing the percentage of clients who suffer losses, etc.

Besides, EXT LTD is a part of a well-established international group Exante with ten offices in Europe and Asia. Exante is authorised to provide the investment services by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA).

Competitive spreads

Although the spreads of EXT are not clearly presented on its website, it becomes clear that trading costs are the same as those of Exante. A spreads starting from 0.3 pips on EUR/USD with a commission of $5 per lot sounds a good offer. For further information and comparison on spreads, check out the below link:

Nice proprietary platform, wide range of assets

Clients of EXT are offered the broker’s in-house web-based platform, which provides fast, stable and reliable performance and integrates smoothly with outstanding applications through its FIX tool. The platform is also available as mobile applications for iOS and Android devices.

Besides, the broker has a very rich and diversified product portfolio, including many forex pairs, CFDs on indices, commodities, cryptocurrencies and over 10,000 stocks.

EXT Disadvantages

Unpolished presentation of trading conditions

EXT has actually not shared with (potential) customers important details of its offer, such as the initial investment required, the typical spreads, commission fees, etc.  Although one can sign up for a demo account (European investors are actually redirected to exante.eu), this does not leave a good impression, especially on the part of a CySEC-regulated broker.

MT4 not available

As it became clear, EXT offers trading on its own platform, and does not support the industry leading MetaTrader4 (MT4).

As usual, we consider the lack of support for the popular MetaTrader 4 (MT4) as a disadvantage of a forex broker. Many traders stick to the MT4, because some of its great charting, support for automated trading strategies (EAs), programming environment and more.

Conclusion

EXT is the Cypriot brand of the Exante group which has its origin in Malta. There is not much information on the broker’s trading conditions, but it offers free testing service and is regulated by CySEC, which definitely raises its rating.

Holding a CySEC license means that the brokerage meets a number of requirements, and provides significant assurance for the security of clients’ funds. Besides, now that the UK is exiting the EU, Cyprus is becoming the most popular forex destination in Europe.
