Australian brokerage DV Markets offers its clients a choice of two basic account types, and a Prime one. All of them offer leverage up to 1:400, variable spreads and the option to use micro tradeable lots.

DV Markets Advantages

Regulated in Australia

The strongest advantage of this broker is the fact that it is licensed by one of the most popular and reliable financial regulators, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). DV Markets is a brand owned by ASIC-licensed Forex Financial Services Pty Ltd., which also operates Forex FS.

Trading on MT4

MetaTrader4 (MT4) is the platform of choice for DV Markets, which is not surprising, as the MT4 is the most widely used forex trading platform. Its charting is top-notch, and the availability of custom indicators and automated trading strategies (or Expert Advisors) is probably the strongest side of this piece of trading software.

Besides, its programing language is not difficult to learn and those who are handy with code can easily create EAs and technical analysis indicators of their own.

Competitive spreads

When we tested DV Markets’s MT4 in demo mode, we found the spreads for the most liquid pair, EUR/USD, floating around 1.2 pips, which is a good pricing.

Most good brokers offer similar spreads for this pair, within the range of 1.0- 1.5 pips. Of course, so go way lower – for example global market leader IG provides a spread averaged 0.6 pips on EUR/USD.

High leverage

DV Markets offers leverage up to 1:400, which will suit traders of all levels and preferences. Yet, it is not appropriate for everyone. Inexperienced traders can lose everything in a matter of minutes using leverage ratios that high. That is why many jurisdictions have capped the leverage brokers can provide to significantly lower levels.

No minimum deposit required

The fact that this broker has not set any initial deposit requirement is an obvious advantage. Its clients can start out with just 1 USD or AUD and risk almost nothing.

DV Markets Disadvantages

Limited CFD offering

The CFD offering of DV Markets is not that impressive, as it does not include some very popular instruments – CFDs on stocks and on cryptocurrencies. If you are one of the many cryptocurrency enthusiasts, here is a list of recommended brokers that offer Bitcoin CFDs.

Spreads not announced on website

DV Markets has not announced the spreads it offers, which is not a major flaw, as the broker offers free demo accounts and everyone can test its services for free.

Conclusion

DV Markets is an Australian forex broker whose offer seems attractive. It provides competitive spreads and high leverage levels on the industry leading MT4 platform. Yet, the best thing about this broker is the fact that it holds an ASIC license.

ASIC requires licensed financial services providers to meet certain capital requirements (at least $ 1 million) and to comply with various internal procedures for risk management, accounting and audits. Besides, forex brokers regulated in Australia are required to keep clients’ money in segregated accounts and report to ASIC on a regular basis.

Australian FX broker regulation, however, does not include any compensation scheme in case a licensed company becomes insolvent.
