RECOMMENDED FOREX BROKERS

Century Investment Futures is a forex, CFD and futures broker based and regulated in Indonesia, offering both an Islamic swap-free account and a Mini account. Here is what you should consider before trusting your money with them.

Account type Min. deposit Max. leverage Spreads
Regular Account N/A 1:100 3 pips, fixed
Mini Account N/A 1:100 3 pips, fixed

Century Investment Futures Advantages:

Regulated in Indonesia

Century Investment Futures is owned by PT. Century Investment Futures and is based and regulated in Indonesia. The broker has a license by the local  Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (BAPPEBTI). The company is also a member of Jakarta Future Exchange, Indonesian Commodity & Derivatives Exchange, Indonesian Derivatives Clearing House, and Identrust Security International. Financial regulations in Indonesia are stricter then in offshore places like Vanuatu or the Marshall Islands, but still an investor might consider trusting his or her money with a broker, licensed by a respected financial authority such as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus and the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC).

To win the trust of its clients Century Investment Futures says it keeps its clients' money in a segregated account, apart form the assets of the company. The practice is a standard for all brokers, licensed by  FCA,  CySEC and  ASIC. Here you can check a list of  FCA regulated brokers:

Mini and Islamic Accounts offered

Century Investment Futures offers two types of accounts – a Regular Account where you can trade a standard lot of 100 000 currency units and a Mini Account, where you can trade with a mini lot of 10 000 currency units. With a Mini Account however you can trade a maximum of 2 standard lots, while with a Regular Account you can choose to trade with up to 20 lots.

While offering a Mini Account, Century Investment Futures does not have a Micro or a Cent account, which could be suitable for the so called Martingale trading strategy with which you double your trading volume after every loss, so that the first win would recover all previous losses and will give you a profit equal to the original stake. Such a strategy is more easily implemented if you start trading with a smaller volume.

Both accounts are swap-free, without this being specifically mentioned, as Indonesia is predominantly a Muslim country and all brokers, regulated by the local Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency must obey Sharia law and offer only swap-free Islamic accounts. Here you can find a list of brokers that also offer swap-free accounts.

MetaTrader4 trading platform

On the plus side Century Investment Futures offers the most widely used trading platform – MetaTrader4. Most traders are well acquainted with it. It has excellent charting tools, whit which you can easily explore and analyze historical data. You have also the option for advanced automated trading through special customizable software - Expert Advisor, which you can modify by adding your own custom indicators. Here is a list of brokers that provide the MetaTrader4 platform:

Century Investment Futures Disadvantages:

Very few trading instruments

Century Investment Futures offers just 10 currency pairs, some CFDs on precious metals and indices, as well as some futures. This is not very impressive. Here you may check a list of brokers that offer much greater variety of trading instruments.

Excessive spreads plus commission

When tested with a demo account the EURUSD spread was fixed on 3 pips. In addition Century Investment Futures charges any transaction with 50 USD commission per lot, which adds additional 5 pips to the spread. A fixed spread of 8 pips is four times above the industry average. Here you may check our list with FCA regulated brokers offering tighter spreads:

Conservative leverage

Century Investment Futures offers maximum leverage of 1:100, which is rather conservative compared to the industry standards. Here you may check a list of brokers with maximum leverage of up to 1:500, which is more than enough to accommodate most traders' strategies:

No information on payment methods

There is no information about deposit and withdrawal methods in the English version of the website. There is no information on the minimum deposit to open an account as well.

Customer support issues

Website is said to be supported in English and Bahasa Indonesia – a standardized version of Malay, but the English version is not fully translated and many sections are left in the local language. The contact section is not working, but still you can find the addresses, contact phones and e-mails of two offices in Jakarta and Surabaya.

Conclusion

Century Investment Futures is not a scam broker, but still the regulatory standards in Indonesia might not be as high as in Europe and Australia, where institutions such as FCA, CySEC and ASIC guarantee the security of the market.

Also to say that trading conditions with Century Investment Futures are not very attractive will be too mild an expression. Spreads plus commission are times higher that the industry average. Furthermore the website is not fully supported in English and information about the payment methods and the deposit and withdrawal conditions simply lack.

On the plus side we should mention that Century Investment Futures offers both swap - free and cent accounts. Another advantage is the MetaTrader 4 platform.

Over all Century Investment Futures looks better then the unregulated or “regulated” in offshore territories scam brokers, but is still far way from the trading conditions, offered by the regulated brokers in Europe, Australia and the UK.
